Roxbury Township is where Royal American is based. Our cars leave from 512 Logan Drive in Landing, in the north-west corner of the township, and every part of Roxbury — Succasunna, Kenvil, Ledgewood, Landing and Port Morris — is a short drive from the yard.

It is also one of the oldest townships in the county. Roxbury was formed on 24 December 1740 from part of Morris Township, and on 21 February 1798 it was incorporated as one of New Jersey’s first 104 townships. This page covers the township as a whole; each section also has its own page, linked below.

    Roxbury Township taxi fares

    Five sections, one township

Roxbury is a patchwork of villages, and residents usually give the village rather than the township as their address:

    • Succasunna — the largest, with the Route 10 shops and Horseshoe Lake.
    • Kenvil — along Route 46 to the east.
    • Ledgewood — the old canal village where Routes 10 and 46 meet.
    • Landing — the north-west corner by Lake Hopatcong, and our base.
    • Port Morris — the railway hamlet on the far western edge.

Any of them works when you book. We know where each one starts and ends.

Port Morris and the Lackawanna Cut-Off

Port Morris began as a Morris Canal settlement and became a railway junction. Between 1908 and 1911 the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western built the Lackawanna Cut-Off, a straight, heavily engineered line west towards the Delaware River, and it started here. For decades Port Morris was one of the busiest rail points in north-west New Jersey.

Today it is a quiet residential corner, easy to overlook on a map and sometimes mislabelled by apps. If your address is in Port Morris, say so — we are only a few minutes away.

    Why being based here matters

Most car services cover Roxbury from somewhere else. We cover it from inside. That makes three practical differences: a local ride is usually minutes away rather than half an hour; a 4 AM airport pickup is a short drive for the driver, not a long one; and on a snowy morning our cars are already on the right side of the hills.

It also means the drivers live with the same roads you do — the Route 10 and Route 46 junction at Ledgewood, the I-80 ramps, the lake traffic on summer weekends.

The route we drive to Newark Airport

From the middle of Roxbury to EWR is about 36 miles. We take I-80 east, I-287 south and NJ-24 east; from Succasunna we sometimes run along Route 10 to I-287 instead.

    • Before 6:00 AM — about 50 minutes.
    • 7:00 to 9:30 AM — allow 75 minutes.
    • 4:00 to 7:00 PM — 75 to 80 minutes, including terminal traffic.

Leave three and three-quarter hours before a domestic flight departing before 9 AM, and four and a half for international.

Who rides with us in Roxbury

Being our home township, Roxbury gives us the widest mix of any:

    • Airport travellers from every section of the township.
    • Rail commuters to Lake Hopatcong station in Landing, or to Dover.
    • Short local rides — shops, appointments, school runs.
    • Lake visitors in summer.
    • Older residents heading to Saint Clare’s in Dover or Morristown Medical Center.

    Booking a taxi in Roxbury

Call (973) 306-7075 at any hour. Give us the section and the street. Because we are local, same-day and short-notice rides are the norm here rather than the exception.

For airport runs, booking the evening before still helps: it fixes your driver and your time.

    Roxbury to New York City

Trains from Lake Hopatcong station are limited, and most Roxbury commuters drive to Dover first. For a group, a late show or luggage, a direct car into Manhattan is from $165 one-way, tolls added at the end.

    Nights, winters and holidays

We never close. On the nights that matter most — a snowstorm, New Year’s Eve, a holiday weekend — Roxbury is the township where we can still reach people quickly, because the cars never have far to come.

If the forecast is bad, call early and we will plan the trip with you.

    Local fares around Roxbury

Short trips within the township are quoted flat before you get in, and so are runs out to Dover, Mine Hill, Mount Arlington, Netcong, Budd Lake and Randolph.

Why book us instead of a rideshare app

We are not passing through — we are based here. That is the whole argument: a fixed fare, a car that is minutes away, a driver who knows Port Morris from Landing, and a local company you can call back.

    Groups, weddings and occasions

A Sprinter van seats up to twelve. Roxbury weddings, proms, reunions and family airport trips are among the bookings we do most, and our drivers already know the local venues and the back roads between them.

Coming home to Roxbury from the airport

Arrange the ride back when you book the ride out. We watch the arrival, the car comes whatever time the plane actually lands, and the driver is heading home to Roxbury too.

    Our Fleet Includes:

    • Luxury sedan — up to three passengers with luggage.
    • Executive SUV — up to six passengers, room for extra bags.
    • Sprinter van — up to twelve passengers for groups and events.
    • Wheelchair-accessible vehicle — available on request when you book.
