Taxi Service at Lake Hopatcong, NJ — 24/7 Cabs Around the Lake
Lake Hopatcong is the largest lake in New Jersey: about nine miles long, roughly 2,500 acres of water, and some 45 miles of shoreline spread across Morris and Sussex counties. Around that shoreline sit marinas, restaurants, boat ramps and several thousand homes on roads that follow the water rather than any grid.
This is home ground for us. Our base at 512 Logan Drive is in Landing, five miles away on the same lake, and Hopatcong State Park — with the lake’s largest public beach access — is in the Landing section of Roxbury, effectively our own neighbourhood. When you call about a lake address, you are not explaining it to someone in another county.
Lake Hopatcong taxi and car service fares
Quoted before you ride and held to. No surge on a summer Saturday, and no different rate for a 4 AM airport run than a midday one.

| JFK | from $205 |
| LaGuardia (LGA) | from $175 |
| Philadelphia (PHL) | from $239 |

Tolls and tax are not included and are added at the end of the trip. Gratuity is at your discretion. We tell you the toll cost up front.
Forty-five miles of shoreline, two counties
The lake touches several municipalities, and that is the single biggest practical problem for anyone trying to send a car here. An address “on Lake Hopatcong” might be in Jefferson Township, in Roxbury on the Landing side, in Mount Arlington, or over the county line in Hopatcong Borough in Sussex — and the driving distance between two of those can be twenty minutes even though they face each other across the water.
So tell us the side of the lake along with the street. A driver who starts round the wrong shore cannot simply cut across; there is a lake in the way. It is the one detail that decides whether a car arrives in ten minutes or thirty.
Summer on the lake, and getting home from it
From late spring the lake fills up: boats out of the marinas, the state park beach busy, and the waterside restaurants doing their trade. A lot of those evenings end with somebody who should not drive and a car parked at a marina until morning.
That is straightforward work for us and it is worth booking ahead on a Friday or Saturday. Lake roads are narrow and parking near the water is scarce at the best of times, so a booked pickup at an agreed point beats standing on a verge trying to explain where you are.
The route we drive to Newark Airport
From the lake it is roughly 38 miles to EWR: down to Route 15 or I-80 east, then I-287 south and NJ-24 east to the terminals. Which way we start depends on which shore you are on.
- Before 6:00 AM — about 50 minutes.
- 7:00 to 9:30 AM — I-80 east and the I-287 merge both load up. Budget 70 to 75 minutes.
- 4:00 to 7:00 PM — the same corridors plus terminal traffic. Budget 75 minutes.
Leave three and three-quarter hours ahead for a domestic flight before 9 AM and four and a half for international.
The canal that made the lake what it is
Lake Hopatcong is bigger than nature left it. The Morris Canal — roughly ninety miles from Phillipsburg to Newark, carrying iron, coal and zinc from the 1830s until the 1920s — was largely fed by this lake, and the water level was raised to supply it.
You can still see the remains in Hopatcong State Park, and the old lock tender’s house is now the lake’s historical museum. It is a useful landmark as well as a nice one: “by the state park” is an instruction every one of our drivers understands.
Who rides with us at Lake Hopatcong
A big lake with year-round residents produces two seasons of demand:
- Airport travellers facing a 38-mile run and a week of parking if they drive themselves.
- Summer evenings at the waterside restaurants and marinas.
- Lake households in winter, when the steep roads down to the water ice first.
- Visitors and renters who arrived by car-share or were dropped off and need to get around.
- Older residents heading to Saint Clare’s in Dover or appointments in Denville.
Booking a taxi at Lake Hopatcong
Call (973) 306-7075 at any hour. Give us the shore — Jefferson side, Landing, Mount Arlington, or the Hopatcong Borough side — then the street, then a landmark if the house sits below the road.
Because we are five miles away, same-day local bookings here are usually easy. For airport runs and summer weekend evenings, book ahead.
Lake Hopatcong to New York City
Lake Hopatcong station sits on the Landing side and reaches New York on the Morristown Line, so a car to the platform is often all you need from us. For a late return, a group of three or four, or a day with luggage, direct to Manhattan is from $165 one-way with tolls added at the end.
Early mornings, late nights and winter
We dispatch twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Out here the pre-dawn airport run is the booking app drivers are least likely to accept — it is long, it starts in the dark, and it begins on a road they do not know. A booked car is held for you.
Winter is its own planning problem. The roads that drop from the ridge to the water hold ice after everything else has cleared. If snow is forecast, tell us when you book and we will move the pickup earlier or agree a meeting point at the top of the hill.
Local fares around the lake
Short runs are quoted flat before you get in. Around to Landing, Ledgewood or Succasunna, across to Mount Arlington or Hopatcong Borough, or down to Dover and Wharton — all priced as the local trips they are, with no change of rate for crossing a municipal or county line.
Why book us instead of a rideshare app
On a 38-mile airport run a fixed fare is the whole argument. Beyond that: the car is assigned in advance, so a 4 AM pickup on a lake road actually happens; and a driver based five miles away knows that the two houses facing each other across the water are twenty minutes apart by road. An app does not.
Groups, weddings and lake occasions
A Sprinter van takes up to twelve, which on a long airport run replaces three cars and three parking bills, and on a lake party means nobody has to stay sober to drive. For weddings we work to the timings rather than the mileage and arrive early rather than on time.
Coming back to Lake Hopatcong from the airport
Book the return with the outbound. Give us the flight number and we track it — land two hours late and the car is still there at the fare you agreed. Thirty-eight miles home to a dark lake road near midnight is exactly the leg worth arranging before you fly.
Our Fleet Includes:
- Luxury sedan — up to three passengers with luggage.
- Executive SUV — up to six passengers, room for extra bags.
- Sprinter van — up to twelve passengers for groups and events.
- Wheelchair-accessible vehicle — available on request when you book.
Around Lake Hopatcong
The lake is shared between Jefferson Township, Roxbury — Landing and Ledgewood — Mount Arlington and Hopatcong Borough over the Sussex line. Oak Ridge and Milton sit north-east, Dover and Wharton to the south. All are worked from the same base and priced from the same distance bands.

Explore Our Frequently Asked Questions
The questions Lake Hopatcong callers actually ask.
How much is a taxi from Lake Hopatcong to Newark Airport?
From $119 one-way in a sedan, confirmed at booking. It is roughly 38 miles via Route 15 or I-80, then I-287 and NJ-24 — about 50 minutes before 6 AM and 70 to 75 in the morning peak. Tolls and tax are added at the end.
Which side of the lake do you cover?
All of it — the Jefferson side, Landing and Roxbury, Mount Arlington and Hopatcong Borough over the Sussex county line, at the same rates. Tell us the shore when you book, because two addresses facing each other across the water can be twenty minutes apart by road.
How quickly can you get to the lake?
Our base is at 512 Logan Drive in Landing, about five miles away on the same lake, so this is one of the quickest areas we reach at any hour.
Can you collect from a marina or the state park?
Yes. Hopatcong State Park is in the Landing section of Roxbury and is a landmark every one of our drivers knows. For marinas, give us the marina name and we will meet you at the entrance rather than somewhere on the access road.
How early should I leave for a morning flight?
Three and three-quarter hours before a domestic departure and four and a half for international. It is a long run from the lake and the I-80 and I-287 stretch is the slow part.
Do you run on summer weekend evenings?
Yes, and they are among our busiest hours here. Book ahead on a Friday or Saturday, and agree a pickup point — parking near the water is scarce and lake roads are narrow.
What about snow and the steep roads down to the water?
Tell us when you book if snow or ice is forecast. The roads dropping to the lake hold ice longest, so we will set the pickup earlier or agree a meeting point at the top rather than risk a steep drive.
Can I book the return from Newark to the lake?
Yes, and on a run this long it is worth booking both legs together. Give us the flight number and we track it, so a delayed landing does not lose you the car or change the price.
How many passengers can you take?
A sedan takes up to three with luggage, an executive SUV up to six, and a Sprinter van up to twelve — useful for a group heading out on the lake or a family airport run.
How is this different from a rideshare app at Lake Hopatcong?
The fare is fixed when you book, which matters most on a 38-mile run and on a busy summer night; the car is assigned in advance; and the driver is based five miles away and knows the shoreline roads rather than trusting a map that ignores the water.
