Millington is the westernmost village of Long Hill Township, and it lives on a border. The Passaic River runs along its edge and marks the line between Morris and Somerset counties; cross the bridge and you are in Basking Ridge country. To the north, the village backs onto the southern side of the Great Swamp.

Our base at 512 Logan Drive in Landing is about twenty-three road miles away. We come down for the station, for trips across the river, and above all for the drive to Newark.

The stone station and its cafe

Millington got its railway on 29 January 1872, when the Passaic Valley & Peapack Railroad opened its line west from Summit. The station building that stands today is newer: a stone structure put up by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western in 1901, at 1931 Long Hill Road, which now houses the Millington Station Cafe.

It makes an easy meeting point. If your house is hard to find in the dark, or you are being collected by a car you have not used before, “the station cafe on Long Hill Road” is a landmark every driver can find first time.

    Across the river: Somerset County

For many Millington households the natural shopping, dining and school runs go south across the Passaic rather than north into Morris County — to Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and Lord Stirling Park, which sits just over the river on the Somerset side.

Crossing the county line changes nothing on our side. The same drivers make the trip, and it is priced from the same distance bands as any ride within Morris County. Tell us the destination when you book and the fare is fixed there and then.

    The swamp on the doorstep

North of the village the land drops into the Great Swamp, and the roads around its southern edge are narrow, wooded and unlit. They are lovely by day and slow at night, with deer crossing at dusk and dawn — exactly the hours of most airport pickups.

Our drivers take them at the pace they need and build that into the pickup time, rather than asking you to leave the house later and hoping for the best.

The route we drive to Newark Airport

From Millington to EWR is about 23 miles. We run east along Valley Road through Long Hill to I-78 east, which takes us straight to the terminals.

    • Before 6:00 AM — about 35 minutes.
    • 7:00 to 9:30 AM — allow 55 to 60 minutes.
    • 4:00 to 7:00 PM — about an hour, with terminal traffic at the end.

Allow three hours before a domestic flight departing before 9 AM, and three and three-quarters for international.

Who rides with us in Millington

A small river village on a branch line gives a mixed but steady flow:

    • Airport travellers heading down I-78 to Newark.
    • Commuters dropped at the station for the Gladstone Branch.
    • Cross-river trips to Basking Ridge and Bernardsville.
    • Visitors to the Great Swamp and Lord Stirling Park.
    • Older residents going to Morristown Medical Center or Overlook in Summit.

    Booking a taxi in Millington

Call (973) 306-7075 at any hour. Give us the street and number, or choose the station on Long Hill Road as the meeting point.

For an airport run, book the day before — we are coming from the other end of the county and want the car on the road in good time.

    Millington to New York City

The branch line gets you to New York, but slowly. For two or more people, a show that finishes late, or a trip with bags, a direct car into Manhattan is from $165 one-way, with tolls added at the end.

    Night and early morning

Our dispatch is open around the clock, all year. In Millington the hours that matter are the dark ones — the pre-dawn airport start and the late train home — and those are the hours when an app is least likely to find you a car.

A booked car is assigned to you in advance, with the driver’s name confirmed the evening before if you ask.

    Local fares around Millington

Short trips are flat-priced before you get in: to Stirling and Gillette, across the river to Basking Ridge, over to Bernardsville, or up to Chatham and Morristown.

Why book us instead of a rideshare app

The fare is fixed when you book, including across the county line. The car is assigned in advance, which is what makes a 5 AM pickup at the edge of the swamp dependable. And the driver knows the station cafe on Long Hill Road is where to wait.

    Groups, weddings and occasions

A Sprinter van takes up to twelve — a family to the airport, a group dinner in Bernardsville, or wedding guests between venues. For weddings we keep to the timings and arrive early.

Coming home to Millington from the airport

The simplest way home is to arrange it before you leave. Give us the arrival flight and we watch it land; delays move the pickup, not the fare. The driver waits for you rather than the other way round.

    Our Fleet Includes:

    • Luxury sedan — up to three passengers with luggage.
    • Executive SUV — up to six passengers, room for extra bags.
    • Sprinter van — up to twelve passengers for groups and events.
    • Wheelchair-accessible vehicle — available on request when you book.
